Or try Mint, a more polished distro based on Ubuntu. It comes with Nemo so you can see file creation dates like in Windows, and should also support drag&drop between desktop and file manager.

An amazing video "slew of expected features, but some of them don’t work – you need this!"

(I’m on Ubuntu 19.10 and like it, but this video is a commercial, not a review)

This is my primary OS. Because I am a developer.
I would not recommend Ubuntu to non-technical people. Try to do basic video editing & see how it crashes on you.
Not ready for the basic user, probably never will be, sorry to be blunt.

The only thing which is bad is that this new update does not contain the WiFi driver. I had a hard time getting the driver separately installed.

I’m having issue after issue after updating from 18.04 to 20.04. Currently my computer won’t lock with keyboard shortcuts and keeps freezing. If I close the lid I have to restart the computer because it will be frozen when I open it back up. 18.04 worked perfectly -_-

I’ve been using linux for about 12 years and work as a software developer. Basically, I like to think I’m not a noob.

I use Ubuntu. I just want a well-supported, stable distro that works and lets me get my job done. Ubuntu does all that.

Oh, and I like snaps, too.

I’m still using 14.04 LTS. Perhaps I will upgrade. It’s odd that my newest (4 years old) computer running Ubuntu is "slower" browsing than my 10 year old one! Both 8gb ram, newer one even has a SSD. Could the 20 seem "faster"? Thanks for the video.

Ubuntu is nice, but the forum staff are very rude and unfriendly, they are like bad age’s communists.
The following pests should be swapped out (fired) and need to be replaced before Ubuntu misses sponsors.

    I completely agree with it.

Joker : If you’re good at something never do it for free
Ubuntu : But I’m good at doing something for free
Joker : What’s that something you’re doing for free?
    Ubuntu : Nothing

I left the open source community since some years, it’s kind of disappointing to see that you guys are still talking about the new icon and the "new dark mode"… 20 years have been passed and nothing changed…

so my question is, why is ubuntu always having issues with transferring files from my phone. with windows it works perfect, i can move files between windows and android without any issue. when I plug my device in on ubuntu, any ubuntu, things are a little funny, sometimes files will transfer for ever and not progress at all. sometimes it’ll transfer half the file, and then it’ll be stuck and wont transfer anymore of the file, I’ve left a 1GB file overnight to transfer that was at 43percent all night long and all day the next day. stuff like this happens time and time again. if i attempt to transfer to large of a file, the whole computer freezes, nothing responds, video players wont open, windows within the explorer window will no longer display when opening a new folder, it’ll appear empty and the loading animation for the folder will go endlessly. when taking focus from one window and maximizing another sometimes the window will dim and can no longer be clicked on. this happens on any version of ubuntu and I can’t figure out why there is such an issue. is this a normal bug that just has never gotten fixed?

The new update is very nice, but I feel the boot splash could be worked on. Sometimes, the boot splash does not show when shutting down, and sometimes, my laptop just gets stuck on a black screen, forcing me to force shut down it. I also think the themes could be worked on too, as some apps like vscode have a dark theme, with a light context bar / menu.
