Trying to FIX: Amazon Tablet and iPad

Hi, this ‘trying to fix’ video shows me attempting to repair my friend’s faulty Amazon Kindle Fire HD tablet and an Apple iPad Mini 2. The Amazon tablet doesn’t charge so can’t power up. The Apple iPad shows a cable and asks to connect to iTunes.
Sorry there is no quick version of this video.
Remember that this is just for entertainment and I am not an expert in these repairs. The processes in the video may not be the best way, the correct way or the safest way to fix these things.
I do love fault finding and trying to fix broken things so I hope that comes across in this ‘Trying to FIX’ series.
Many thanks, Vince.

The thing was you put it an hour on charge but if the battery is so low it uses all the incoming voltage for the screen to display the battery icon but how you did it nowjust straight into the battery it uses all the v9ltage directly to the battery

The solder thing of the charging ports on the ipad only applies to some ipad minis. I got an iPad 4th Gen motherboard with 2 broken connectors and im certain that the charging port wasn’t soldered.

I’m not an expert, but it looks like there’s 2 pads to the right of the Tristar chip that are empty @47:11, would a capacitor or resistor have gone there?

  15. tammyjefferywilliam on April 11, 2021 at 11:50 pm

You would have usually heated the NAND chip to try and reflow the balls underneath without removing it.

  20. DoomNexus on April 11, 2021 at 11:59 pm

It’s not a good idea to jump-start a dead lithium battery! I’m no expert on this but I strongly suggest to not use jump-charged batteries or jump-charge dead ones in the first place. There’s a reason why devices prevent you from charging them. I only have a grasp why this happens so I don’t want to go into detail to not spread false information, so please look it up for yourself!

  21. aaalexxx900 on April 12, 2021 at 12:00 am

It should be NAND problem because of the red screen that appears, unfortunately nand programmers cost a lot of money. If you will ever get one, for a problem like this you should backup "syscfg" and formant nand, if still not working, change nand and copy original syscfg over. Hope I’ve helped 🙂

Bro I know why the iPad is like the first thing I have a problem like that in my iPad and their tools and knowing but this was already crashing on my iPad and I fix it that’s really easy if it is doing just close the Apple logo and to the batteries of the process and when it stops the Apple logo 1 steps for Apple logo and go to on the items thing is open your laptop and then restore it that se it’s very easy

For the iPad, I think using playing cards works better than that metal pick. They’re paper, so they’re gentler, and you also have a lot of them. Regardless, cracking open iPad’s are always a pain.

That sticker in the amazon one could be an rfid tracking sticker it looks like one to me

It’s nothing to do with how it works or GPS it’s to track the actual product it’s self

Old video but for anyone seeing this in the future, a tip for these Amazon Fire Tablets:

The problem is almost always the charge port or battery. Honestly, 95% of the time. I’ve fixed many and all were one of the two.

I’ve fixed multiples where simply resoldering the charge port "fixed" it. I use quotes because the only fault is that Amazon builds these things as cheaply as possible and the solder broke the connection to the port, not allowing it to ever charge beyond 1%.

A few others had bad batteries like this here in the video and, tbh, a reppacement battery is about as much as a new tablet (by design) so you may as well buy a new tablet unless you have a spare battery on hand.

To end, those Fire Tablets are made with toothpicks and bubblegum. They aren’t made to last long but when they do go it’s usually an easy fix. Amazon just expects you to buy another by making 75% of the tablets cost come by way of the battery alone.

Very late comment mate vince but just incase you not familiar sometimes if the LCD screen for any apple device or the battery isn’t genuine simply remove the screen completely restore using iTunes update should complete with no errors. If that didn’t work try different battery then update with screen completely removed just incase it a replacement screen. This won’t help here now but maybe come in handy for future. You probs already know this but figured I’d comment as I’ve had a few apple devices mostly screens only ever had one apple device what it was battery stopping it rest I’ve just removed screens updated via pc iTunes. Not sure with the newer 2019 2020 2021 product as I don’t touch apple no more lol.
