Gauntlet getting only an honourable mention is an injustice.

  9. Per Capita on April 14, 2021 at 11:49 pm

I never really understood why this was so popular, not one of my all time fav games now from the arcadepool halls, i´m no stranger to driving games but this one was meh.
Oh it´s a bunch of games, i ment Out Run ,Road Rash was one of the all time hits, it went so fast and fun to fight on those bikes, and upgrade them.
Nah, called Super Hang-On this one in the clip and Road Rash was a console game of course, i know that. With the excellent music from the group Paw as well, bought their CD because of the music there. Excellent

So many more to mention. Super Sprint, Tehkan World Cup (the one with the roller balls), Afterburner, Track and Field, Star Wars (one you actually sat in)

toss up between Golden Axe and Final Fight in my opinion… when I was a kid the atmosphere of those games had be glued to the arcade screen

looks like double dragon was running on poor emulation its shown at half speed the only time that game would slow down was on the elevator, so choices of top 25.. Rygar , Gyruss, Mr Do?

I bet Donkey Kong and PacMan are the two most influential games ever made. These were the games that started it all. The greatest game developers/Creators/designers etc in the world played these games plus These games are still very popular.

  20. A S on April 14, 2021 at 11:59 pm

Robotron should be number 1, probably the greatest arcade game ever conceived and still as playable, challenging and addictive 40 years later.

When ‘R-Type’ showed up on here I about cried, thanks…. It was the game I played over and over when I got back from school and just wanted to chill downstairs for a while. I beat it so many times, but it never got old, love that game and I almost forgotten it and those times as a kid playing it….. memories, so many memories, thanks, man.

  47. Eric Esposito on April 15, 2021 at 12:32 am

Compared to todays games, the 80’s graphics suck, but man oh man they were just real fun and simple. I don’t get into today kind of games, just too much going on in them, too complicated to learn and mostly like playing a movie and you’re the main character. yes it’s cool, but they just cannot give you the feel and excitement that the classics gave. Today’s games just give me a headache……tried to play Fallout 3 on a used Xbox 360 this year, but man….While it is quite awesome, it’s just too complex and "movie like" for my taste. Just love the old 80’s style…..the arcade, the quarters, lights, smiles everyone having a good time. These days it’s hard to find an actual arcade if any…..It’s a damn shame kids now don’t experience this like we all did among other things that were destroyed by the internet and convenience AKA, Cough NetFlix/redbox destroying Blockbuster video and all video rental shops…. oK i’M DONE…..just had a bit of 80’s relapse…..I wanna go back.
