    Impressive for an Atari 2600.

Holy shit this was advanced for 2600. Like there is a reasonable amount of animation on even the pilots heads up display and the game genuinely runs at a reasonable frame rate. I imagine this was like insanely advanced for it’s time.

ohm, like the Atari 7800 version, does this version allow you to actually shoot down any planes?

I own a 2600 and I have about 60 games for it. I am blown away at the graphics and capabilities of this game. This might be the most graphically advanced atari 2600 that was ever made cause nothing I have played looks anything close to being this good. I’m impressed at all the features it has for something as old as that console.

There were sims on the NES that didn’t have this much detail. I LOVED my copy of Tomcat.

It’s pretty close to TopGun for NES. Nice for a 2600

Would have been a lot easier to shoot down the plane if you had turned off the afterburner. You take off with the eng at 216%. Once you get airborn, you’re supposed to lower your thrust down to about 90%. By keeping it up that high, you overshot the plane you were trying to shoot down. Loved this game!

Anyone know how to take off and not blow up within 2 seconds

  18. IvanFletcher on April 6, 2021 at 12:24 am

I honestly have no clue as to why I went from watching GTA 5 to watching some flight simulation game on an Atari 2600…
