Other aspect is that the Mega Drive did not die. There are dozens of newer games and homebrews per year.

Hello, i love this channel and your dedication towards retro gaming. Just wanted to ask you or anyone who is looking at this post; that since past couple of months i am trying to find out one old NES type soccer game which is more like anime style gaming where we play as a protagonist and regarding the gameplay there is only one player displayed on screen while dribbling the ball and the players can shoot the ball with super powers like in Shaolin Soccer…. If the power is op then the keeper fly away like an airplane and the goalpost net is destroyed and so on….. I used to play this game when i was a kid and now i am 33. I am quite sure that lot of other players played this game as well and it would be a great appreciation if anyone tells me the name of this game. I am really desperate right now..😫😫😔😔.. ( Note::: It is not GOAL franchise, which has also super power shootings like in cartoons..) Thank you in advance.. 🙏🙏🙏🙏

price charting is an awful site. It’s outdated and outright often times missing info on pricing.

Loved the shout out to Retro RGB. That site is how I got my start in scart…

The Sega CD is actually worth having, if you ignore the FMV junk there are actually a lot of good games for it, and zero piracy protection so they are very easy to burn. As well as new indie releases.

Im getting the Sega genesis mini this weekend and beside its going on a deal right now 😁

I had a Sega Model 2 growing up. As a kid I always thought Sega was cooler and I never was into Super Nintendo. As an adult I think the Super Nintendo haf so much I missed out on. Same with the N64. As a kid I never had one and thought it was weird but I see I missed out on so much now.

  11. Inkshock on May 11, 2021 at 1:06 am

I collect loose carts, so for me collecting for the Super Famicom is actually easier then for the Mega Drive ^^

The Haunting Starring Polterguy is a great game. Lots of fun but criminally overlooked

  13. Stranger Things on May 11, 2021 at 1:09 am

I have the exact same one with the controller idk what to do with it

  14. ZA1US on May 11, 2021 at 1:09 am

I did not have a genesis "growing up" I had one as an adult…why do you automatically assume that? ☺

  15. Retrobytes on May 11, 2021 at 1:12 am

Pricing online outrageous of wanted games. Streets of rage 3 running over $100. Thunder force 2 i paid $10.00 for it in 2014. That same game now $40.00.

It’s interesting to note the censorship thing, while companies tend to go back and forth in what they allow in their consoles.
Sega has pretty much always been very lenient towards just about anything, more often than not, having stuff that you wouldn’t dream of seeing in other consoles. I think while the Mega Drive certainly had some examples for its time, it gets increasingly interesting as time went on. Such as in Shin Megami Tensei for the Sega CD having a scene with nude priests (?) in some kind of ritual, stuff than its SNES and PS1 counterpart don’t have, with the characters wearing robes instead, indicating that despite the SNES one being the original, it was probably intended for the game to be the way it was on the Sega console (and PC Engine). And this especially applies to the Sega Saturn, having a lot of spicy visual novels (and I mean, a lot). And sure, it wasn’t outright porn or anything, but far beyond what other consoles were willing to have at the time.
Well, they didn’t get to the same level with the Dreamcast (and the very last moments of the Saturn too).

I’m lucky to have my sega mega drive, still in working condition.

  18. Rob L on May 11, 2021 at 1:16 am

Childhood: Atari 2600 Teens: NES and I didn’t play any mainstream games except Tetris the rest were the hidden gems but I never really liked the console. Early Adulthood Sega Genesis and I loved it. It was the first console I could call my own and while all my friends were playing the NES I was playing Sonic and Gunstar Hero’s. I loved this console and it is one of my favorites ever.

  19. Rich Kelly on May 11, 2021 at 1:17 am

    I still play mine’s

  20. ganggreen1983 on May 11, 2021 at 1:18 am

For someone who prefers the collect CIB genesis games. The prices are up there. Love those Konami Genesis games.

  21. Pichuscute on May 11, 2021 at 1:21 am

I’ve been planning to pick one up for awhile now. Only thing stopping me is the high prices on the actual games. Phantasy Star and Shining Force at the price of new games is a bit too steep for me. ><

  22. Septer Sever on May 11, 2021 at 1:24 am

Just wanted to add that the Sega CD will play burned discs, too! It’s rather expensive to collect for.

  23. Chris Pacheco on May 11, 2021 at 1:26 am

I just got the AT games portable Genesis for about 25 bux its a cool alternative, comes with a bunch of games.

  24. sdmayday on May 11, 2021 at 1:26 am

A genesis and some games will ve cheaper than doa6 dlc 😉

  25. Kelly Pontes on May 11, 2021 at 1:29 am

Second Dimension has started a Kickstarter campaign to release my game "Kromasphere" for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive.
Pledges of US$ 20 and up are worth a cartridge.
    https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/seconddimension/kromasphere-yagac-md
Please help me spread the word.

  26. Cbanks56 on May 11, 2021 at 1:30 am

Eh I’m kinda glad it’s not as popular to collect for the sega systems like the most of nintendo’s consoles seem to be right now. At least I’ll have the chance to play the games without being scalped by people even if it’s not a limited game at all. *cough* gamecube

  27. Robert Higgins on May 11, 2021 at 1:30 am

I’ve the Genesis 3 with the smaller MK 1470 controllers. It misses additional hardware support BUT it’s composite and RGB output is arguably the best of all previous revisions AND it’s no more a Genesis than you require.

  28. Mai Kim Dang on May 11, 2021 at 1:31 am

    Sega 4 Ever

  29. Rocky on May 11, 2021 at 1:32 am

I bought one today for 25 dollars and got a 6 pak of games for 9 dollars. The 6 pak also had sonic on it.

  30. BoneCollector on May 11, 2021 at 1:34 am

This video is like 15-20 years too late. Nice try.

  31. AWiseCrow on May 11, 2021 at 1:34 am

Mega drive is not that affordable. Sure some games are around $10 usd but many other desirable games are around $50 like on snes

  32. DR360WHO on May 11, 2021 at 1:34 am

Loved Rocket Knight Adventures, Alien and Mickeys castle of illusion, played a lot of Desert and Jungle Strike too

  33. TailsChaotix on May 11, 2021 at 1:36 am

So I’m a huge Nintendo fan, have like 6 old consoles and a load of games, and recently, ive gotten into sonic and bought a genesis. Can’t recommend it more.

  34. The bearded gamer on May 11, 2021 at 1:36 am

While it does get overshadowed by the SNES it is an outstanding console. I have two model 2’s and one 32X add on. It’s easy to work and most games are fairly cheaper just as you said. The game cases are so much better and make hinting for games more fun I find. All in all it’s a great console!

  35. taiki sonoda on May 11, 2021 at 1:37 am

Try play sunset rider on sega genesis

  36. Albert8044 on May 11, 2021 at 1:38 am

I was an original Sega Genesis owner in the 90’s.

  37. I pirate retro games so what? on May 11, 2021 at 1:38 am

Great video dude. I really do feel Sega systems in general not just Genesis are a tad underappreciated these days. Just subbed. Have a good day 🙂

  38. Bofner on May 11, 2021 at 1:40 am

I grew up with a hand-me-down model 2 Genesis in the early 2000’s. While all my friends were playing PS2, I was having a blast playing Sonic 3, Robocop vs Terminator and After Burner 2. I’ve still got the old thing, and it works perfectly. I love collecting for the Genesis, but it makes me sad to see games that I bought 5 or so years ago for $30 have shot up to around $80-$100. Its definitely better to buy now than to wait. Prices are always going up on old systems

  39. Vincent GR on May 11, 2021 at 1:40 am

Actually SNES was popular in US and Japan, in Europe and Brazil was SEGA all the way. Even today SEGA is big in Brazil with knock offs still selling.

  40. Mai Kim Dang on May 11, 2021 at 1:41 am

Games I love for my sega mega drive are YuYu hakusho/sunset fighters, Alien soldier , Twinkle tales , monster world 4 , musha , road rash, gain ground and more others

  41. SuperVstech on May 11, 2021 at 1:42 am

I have two, plus two game gears, a nomad, Saturn, and Dreamcast… I guess I should unbox them, and see what’s what again…

  43. Joe Mac on May 11, 2021 at 1:43 am

    Genesis = Darth Vader
    Super Nintendo = Luke Skywalker

  44. JakeFunnyMan on May 11, 2021 at 1:44 am

I just got a Genisis today with sonic 2 for 55 dollars because I’m getting into collecting retro game systems so far I have gba ps1 and of course the genisis

  45. Joe Cherrett on May 11, 2021 at 1:45 am

I’ve got my old Megadrive sitting in a box in my loft with 30 or so of my old games, my Mum had it all sat in her garden shed with my Matchbox cars/Micro Machines and gave them all to me when she had a clear out recently. I’m aware I could sell it all and I don’t really play games anymore, but as they were my own personal games accrued growing up I wouldn’t part with any of them because of the nostalgia value.

  46. ボロ from EU on May 11, 2021 at 1:47 am

Got my first Mega Drive few years back to give it a try as back 3 years ago you could get one for like 10€ and games fro 2-3€ and I’m glad I did. Kinda sad that the prices went up sharply later on, probably to catch up to yankie prices. Also with image quality you are totally wrong… the older boards have much better audio but unbearably ugly picture, to the point of distracting you when you play, newer model one and all model 2 have bad audio gut generally better picture. Best option is to get early model 1 and install custom RGB-AMP, it costs like few €, provided you do it yourself instead of buying overpriced kits and makes the picture pixel perfect.

"The favourite of two seems to be Super Nintendo" Yeah, as usual Americans measuring worldwide success based on US only
