You ought to try switching between them more frequently…. Or at least compare some shorter clips at some point in the video. At the end maybe…
    Thanks for uploading either way.

the model 1 sounds great, the model 2 sounded really muffled, the model 3 sounded like it didn’t has stereo and the cdx is pretty much like the model 1

  4. Breck on February 25, 2021 at 9:59 pm

who else hears the rabbids in model 1

    Megadrive 1 > Multimega > Model 3 > Megadrive 2

  6. Tedmeister on February 25, 2021 at 10:00 pm

    Model 1, all the way.

  7. TorqueEmUp on February 25, 2021 at 10:03 pm

Models 2 came with like 3-4 different op amps, and 2 of them are quite bad, the LM324 op amps being the worst, and I found my model had these op amps. Any Genesis can sound and look good with a Triple Bypass mod which gives you a more modern video amp, and the best audio amp. I am probably going to have to invest in one of these modboards myself. My Model 1 VA7 isn’t much better with probably the second worst op amps, also has corrosion around the audio mixing part of the board.

Huh, I was expecting worse from the CDX. It actually sounds like a tinny version of the model 1. Clearly I underestimated the CDX compared to the superior Wondermegas. The CDX avoids the issues of the Model 2 muffle and Model 3 Mono Center all together and delivers the accurate yet quiet and tinny sounding Model 1 sound. But still the Wondermegas offer superior audio even compared to the Genesis Model 1. There’s actually a video that demonstrates the Model 1 vs the JVC X’eye, and the X’eye doesn’t even have an audio DSP like the Wondermega RG-M1 which is the only Mega Drive/Mega CD console to ever have DSP period.

I had a sega genesis 3 but my parents threw it out because of their anger imagine if your console also got destroyed

This is the game Michael Jackson and Sega parted ways over. Michael didn’t like the changes to the Genesis 2, and Sega didn’t want to deal with an alleged child rapist, who financially settled out of court one case, and was found not guilty in another one. It was a mutual breakup. Later Micael Jackson appeared, once he was found not guilty, in Ready to Rumble 2 and Space Channel 5.

0:14 model 1: Perfect audio, not terrible
    1:43 model 2: bruh….. Terrible…
3:13 model 3: ok, perfect but only mono….
4:43 CDX: ok, perfect….and, just that..

  12. Revive Back on February 25, 2021 at 10:15 pm

This video is total bullshit, there is no way version 2 sounds that bad. Probably a recording problem

  13. Bro on February 25, 2021 at 10:15 pm

It would be cool to see a video comparing the audio quality of all Mega Drive remakes and knockoffs 🙂 some are really good. The Retroad HD Genesis does a good job, close to the original, even if it is only in mono.

  14. Chitan on February 25, 2021 at 10:17 pm

The model 3’s sound isn’t really that bad.

0:14-1:44 Model 1: the Sounds are Better, Stereo.
1:44-3:14 Model 2: the Sounds are Well-Muffled, Stereo.
3:14-4:43 Model 3: the Sounds are Very Accurate, Mono.
4:43-6:16 Model CDX: the Sounds are little muffled, Stereo.

  18. Travis Holland on February 25, 2021 at 10:23 pm

Damn, no wonder I thought the SNES sound chip killed the Genesis’s. I had the Model 2…It sounds so god damn muffled and weak compared to the Model 1’s punchy and crisp sound.

  19. Vitto's Phone Collection on February 25, 2021 at 10:24 pm

Try with the headphones, they sound better and the difference is higher (especially with the model 3 )

I Prefer the Mega Collection Sounds. Because It Has Fuzzy Sounds. I Like Fuzzy Sounds Instead of High Quality Emulation Sounds.

  25. fancykat on February 25, 2021 at 10:28 pm

Duplicated mono on the Genesis 3 sounds really good, but the model 1 has the best mixing by far, the CDX is also really good but again, the mixing is bad. The model 2 sounds awful, its definetly one of the earlier versions where Sega cheaped out.

  26. Otarr on February 25, 2021 at 10:29 pm

I used to play my genesis model one using the headphone Jack and earphones. As far as I know there’s no other system that allowed you to do that? The music was really good! The sound effects were kind of harsh sounding but not bad. Flying battery tune is awesome!

  27. PLEYOR on February 25, 2021 at 10:29 pm

CDX doesn’t sound too bad. Model one sounds amazing.

  28. Xun Shen on February 25, 2021 at 10:30 pm

Model 1 has the best sound performance!

    Battery zone is my jam

  30. JordanViknar on February 25, 2021 at 10:31 pm

I think the CDX is the best one.

Edit : I think that because i just put my volume up. Model 3 only has mono and i find the model 1 a bit "dusty".

  31. Chief Executive Orbiter on February 25, 2021 at 10:33 pm

    Damn and CDX lol

  32. Ikey Ilex on February 25, 2021 at 10:34 pm

    Model 1: Tried and true
Model 2: Now with extra crust
    Model 3: Let’s have a little talk, mono-e-mono.

  33. PichuTheCheerio on February 25, 2021 at 10:36 pm

    CDX best model

  34. Sairot on February 25, 2021 at 10:36 pm

Model 2 sounds a bit more distorted to me than the others.

  36. BRADLEY HIFI on February 25, 2021 at 10:39 pm

sega genenis model 1 and cdx has stereo mdoel 2 and 3 muffled and mixed in one mono channel and missing parts of music

  37. Wellplay SD on February 25, 2021 at 10:39 pm

    Thank God I have a model 1

  38. Skye Scheschuk on February 25, 2021 at 10:40 pm

Sadly I have the model 2

  39. Yellow Flash on February 25, 2021 at 10:41 pm

Model 1 is the hands down winner as models 2 & 3 used cost cutting techniques to make the hardware cheaper. I’d really like to hear the CDX vs Model 1 in a better comparison. Those sound close

  40. KRAFTWERK2K6 on February 25, 2021 at 10:42 pm

But what about the Nomad? Should be on that list as well.

  41. supersonicjc on February 25, 2021 at 10:44 pm

wow I had a model 2 in high school and only had the in box rf cable with it, friend had the model 1 same set up and never could tell there was that huge of a difference in the sound quality. damn that just blows my mind there was that huge of a difference between the 2 models never had a 3 since I was onto the next gen stuff by then but man that was insaine, wonder how other stages like hydro city sound in difference between the 2 systems

  42. G G on February 25, 2021 at 10:47 pm

    Model 1 FTW

  43. Erick Monroy on February 25, 2021 at 10:47 pm

Does it really matter if the Model 1 doesn’t have the High Defenition Graphics writting on it?? And why do some Model ones have it and some don’t? Can someone please help me?. Thank you.

  44. Weyzar on February 25, 2021 at 10:48 pm

0:14 Model 1: Perfect Sound Chip and Stereo Output
1:44 Model 2: Muffled and Distorted Stereo Output (its like the speaker is being covered by something or is damaged)
3:14 Model 3: Mono Output and its SN76489 is a little too high pitch and gets in the way of the Model 3’s Bass (25%-40% higher pitched Jingles)
4:43 CDX: Perfect just like the Model 1 only lesser Bass and its SN76489 is also a little loud but not as loud as the Model 3 (10%-20% lesser Bass and 5%-15% higher pitched Jingles)

Listen to earphones for the best audio quality

  45. Sr.putis on February 25, 2021 at 10:50 pm
