PlayStation Vue Is Shutting Down – Why?

This video explains the reasons why the over the top live TV service PlayStation Vue is shutting down. The service launched back in 2015 and offers a variety of live local and national channels such as ESPN, Disney, ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, and others aimed at cord cutters.

I would like to get a service that does not carry the OTA channels. I already have those and do not want to pay for something I already have.

  2. David Parnell on December 23, 2020 at 10:26 pm

So disappointed in the news. I am in no way switching to doing mainly because of local channels and no for function. Also I live in a duplex and I could use an antenna but no matter what antenna I buy, I still don’t get the local CBS station which is over 50 miles out. If someone knows of a indoor antenna, post a link.

this is a CRUSHING BLOW for me and cord cutters. Sony is a big name with a lot of capital and if they can’t survive it’s not a good signal to the remaining companies left. I had Vue for almost 4 years and they are without a doubt the best online streaming service. I hate to disagree but Sling is not nearly as good, terrible content and i had many problems with them blacking out commericals and not coming back on time (missing some of the show i was watching).

Sony Vue provided all of my local channels along with sports including Redzone, premiums HBO, Showtime, Epix directly thru Vue. With Sling I would have to go to those providers and pay 4 or 5 additional bills every month – talk about a nightmare!
So it looks like my cord cutting experiment failed and i’m stuck going back to Verizon Fios. I’m sure Verizon will shove it up my A$% to rent their crappy equipment while my roku’s get no use and I will end up paying way more per month for the same content I was getting with Sony Vue.

It’s obvious that this market is totally rigged and the only players left will be the big boys who will continue to jack up the prices as networks increase costs.

  4. Mr Will on December 23, 2020 at 10:29 pm

I personally thought playstation vue had the best streaming

    Sling is overrated

  5. Marechan28 Gaming on December 23, 2020 at 10:29 pm

I was so happy with my Ps Vue

  6. Sportstoe on December 23, 2020 at 10:30 pm

I liked your video, but I disagree with you on Sling Tv. I think You Tube Tv is better then Sling, has better DVR & by the time you add up all the options ( channel packages ) on Sling…. You Tube Tv is a little cheaper. When are networks gonna realise no one wants to pay more for their channels ??

  7. Fred C on December 23, 2020 at 10:30 pm

    I want my PVue back

  8. Ken Not Cat on December 23, 2020 at 10:31 pm

Wtf ps Vue is my jam.

  9. The Jonny-A Show! on December 23, 2020 at 10:33 pm

    I’ll miss my PS VUE!

  10. Joey Chitwood on December 23, 2020 at 10:33 pm

You are right, if it is free there is no reason to pay for it!

  11. Curt W on December 23, 2020 at 10:33 pm

Shitty service with too many errors, too expensive, dumb name. I saved $16/mo switching to YTTV

  12. Andy D on December 23, 2020 at 10:34 pm

This is ridiculous. Honestly most people only watch a few channels but they are forced to pay for an entire package.

  13. David Senger on December 23, 2020 at 10:38 pm

I thought all the stupid commercials pay the channels for most of their crap ?

  14. Bryan Jackson on December 23, 2020 at 10:40 pm

This is very disheartening! PSVue had the best content! Had everything I wanted. All the League channels, Redzone and the 3 networks. I pay 475 a month for PS Vue and would of gladly paid another $10 a month for them to stay. All the other streaming services suck! None of them carry the 3 networks completely. Either have none or just have 1 or 2. And missing a few other channels we enjoy. PSVUE had them all except the History channel. I am leaning towards Sling as it carries all the 4 league channels, Redzone and all the other channels we like. Just doesnt have ABC in my area. Does have NBC & CBS. I compared them all (Hulu, Youtube TV, AT&T TV, Philo & Fubo Tv) and Sling was the best of those. Really wish Sony would reconsider!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  15. Nick Poverman on December 23, 2020 at 10:40 pm

    Glad I have Hulu tv.

  16. Jeffrey Torres on December 23, 2020 at 10:43 pm

What other streaming service offers HBO? Can PS Vue still be saved if someone buys it?!

  17. Joshua Carroll on December 23, 2020 at 10:47 pm

PSVue was nice, but they increased the price twice on us and we decided to drop them. We went to Hulu Live and they increased the price so we dropped them. OTA TV works and it cost me like $200 for the HD Homerun and Plex pass. I had a machine already to install Plex on and the Antenna was already in use. No monthly fees to use OTA TV.

  18. Marechan28 Gaming on December 23, 2020 at 10:48 pm

I would gladly pay for Sony Ps Vue over YouTube tv I don’t like it. I miss my Ps Vue.

  19. Tim Emerson on December 23, 2020 at 10:48 pm

Regulation is seriously needed, starting with price caps.

  20. Jimbo Jones on December 23, 2020 at 10:48 pm

Fuck cable companies. Fuck money and fuck the Illuminati

  21. Real Gems on December 23, 2020 at 10:51 pm

These companies think people want to watch them. Yeah ok

  22. naihanchin Kempo on December 23, 2020 at 10:51 pm

the antenna you show is really funny. haven’t seen one like it sinse 1977, had foil on ours in the day

  23. Evoke on December 23, 2020 at 10:52 pm

Damnit….does sling look as good and has sports channels?

  24. Zxc on December 23, 2020 at 10:52 pm

It’s very easy for the top cable channels to ask for more money. Comcast moved TCM to a $10 sports package presumably because Turner was asking for more money. Is there a reason why cable companies like Comcast can’t offer TCM ala carte for say $2 extra?

  25. Steven Corbo on December 23, 2020 at 10:53 pm

Deeply saddened that this happened I really love PlayStation Vue it just became cost prohibitive

  26. A K on December 23, 2020 at 10:53 pm

That sucks. The only reason I won’t cut the cord is we only have one option for home internet and it’s through the cable company. Do you think 5g will change this? As in, will we be able to use 5g as our sole internet connection? Will Verizon or whoever else we get our mobile 5g let tethering 5g to home? This would be great as we could cut ties with cable and just use streaming services. Cool vids

  27. tron3entertainment on December 23, 2020 at 10:53 pm

2:18 That is the same antenna I am using for a spare TV! Good second floor reception and lots of channels.

  28. tegrq bruh on December 23, 2020 at 10:55 pm

Hah, I’ve never heard of PS Vue.

  29. Righty Tighty on December 23, 2020 at 10:56 pm

The only channel I get now is a fox channel that isnt being repacked. Ive lost all my other channels due to repacking. Lucky for me the world series was on fox.

  30. Laura Bowe on December 23, 2020 at 10:57 pm

Over the air channels with my antenna installed in the attic works for me….I see all my local channels, news, weather, sports, and most of the shows aired are classics from the days TV actually was enjoyable and worth watching.

  31. John Doe on December 23, 2020 at 10:57 pm

For broadcast TV (ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC and PBS) you get the _BEST_ picture using an OTA antenna. Cable, Satellite and OTTP providers _MUST_ compress the video to fit as many channels as they do into the bandwidth "pipe" available. Your local OTA channels have a "pipe" that is MUCH larger and they, for the most part, are only cramming 3 or 4 subchannels into it. So they can offer a much higher quality picture and audio experience that for the viewer is free.

  32. shahminhajuddin on December 23, 2020 at 10:58 pm

Good as Sony had decided to be racist and not allow access of services in most of the other countries(whole world other than USA), now the service dies, very good 😊

  33. John K on December 23, 2020 at 11:00 pm

The only live TV I get is with my antenna. Then I subscribe to a couple of ad free on demand streaming services, and that’s it. I also watch ad supported free streaming channels like Sony Crackle. I have more to watch now than I have time to watch, so why subscribe to a live streaming service at all?

  34. John Williams on December 23, 2020 at 11:01 pm

If they are shutting down, why did I just see a commercial promoting PS VUE ?

  35. j rudy morgan clark on December 23, 2020 at 11:01 pm

I’m going to miss playstation vue for real I’m gonna miss the premiere league and many shows😞.

  36. Bob Riemersma on December 23, 2020 at 11:02 pm

If cable had beaten back the ESPN monster before it grew to Godzilla size so much of this misery would never have happened.

  37. Nate Mills on December 23, 2020 at 11:03 pm

No local sports channel on Sling. Cant watch local hockey and baseball. Will go to YouTube TV

  38. Walter Lloyd on December 23, 2020 at 11:07 pm

    Sad day.

  39. Capricorn One! on December 23, 2020 at 11:08 pm

    Locals are the problem

  40. Malcom Jones on December 23, 2020 at 11:11 pm

The price of the content . I thought it was Sony Who was being greedy. It’s the content provider. I guess Sony not making a profit. We’re going to shut down. I loved PlayStation vue. I was paying about 40.00 a month. It freed me from cable. Their sports package was great. YouTube sports package sucks. Sling has a nice program.

  41. Gladiator Spear on December 23, 2020 at 11:11 pm

My bill is due dec 23. Should I cancel now it’s dec 15 right now. ?

Iam going to miss ps Vue. 😭😭😭

  42. Shiloh Warren on December 23, 2020 at 11:11 pm

It’s shutting down because it’s too expensive

  43. Laura Bowe on December 23, 2020 at 11:11 pm

Will they be giving the money back for memberships?

  44. J Baas on December 23, 2020 at 11:12 pm

PlayStation Vue is really good. The name is very confusing for the majority of people. They see that name of the service and likely think they need a PlayStation to use it. Sony should have came up with a better name for the service. Maybe just Sony Vue would have helped attract more subscribers.

  45. Jon Thornton on December 23, 2020 at 11:13 pm

Tyler a little off subject video. Direct tv upgraded our system and we lost our local locals to major cities. Wanting to install antenna in attic. 2 Neighbors has installed ClearStream2Max in their attics seems to work ok they say. My zip 70544 so. Louisiana. Lots of trees in area. What suggestions do you have. Local wal mart has antenna for $74. Thanks in advance

  47. David Mariscal on December 23, 2020 at 11:15 pm

We saved $75 a month cutting Comcast and switching to PS Vue, loved the variety, but it’s hard to switch to another provider because our PS4 doesn’t allow any other streaming services to operate on their console.

Since Sony quit the streaming business, they need to allow stream apps to operate on their PS4 console.

  48. diskgrind on December 23, 2020 at 11:15 pm

    Greedy networks.

  49. J. Kelley on December 23, 2020 at 11:16 pm

That sucks. I like vue. Its cheaper than dish and direct TV. Screw the big channels wanting money. They can screw off.

  50. David shan on December 23, 2020 at 11:18 pm

    YouTube tv is better anyway
