Those benchmarks are showing an overall average, and for a game like Tomb Raider, most if not all of the benchmark results are using the in-game benchmark test. There are other things to take into consideration, too. For your TR example, you’re only talking about 4 fps difference in what you’re experiencing, and you have to keep in mind that the "professional’s" benchmarks were probably performed in well air-conditioned rooms, which can make all the difference with a PC’s performance.

Well lag is mostly due to your internet speed, so look into your ISP if you’re having issues with that. And if you just wanna run world of warcraft on max settings, IMO you shouldn’t get this laptop and get a cheaper one, most $800+ laptops should run WOW on ultra settings.

The cooling is fine for me, MSI Coolerboost 2 is amazing. I’ve noticed a ”button” with the image of a cooling system near the power button. I think if I press that it’ll increase the cooling and probably the performance? i’ll try that now

  8. Jeff Maude on April 15, 2020 at 5:44 pm

Newegg tv i like your detailed overviews.. but one thing i would like to see is comparisons with average systems and other gaming laptops.. those woud really help for someone looking to buy a new laptop.. also your ratings, im currently still learning and trying to understand more about the scores but i still am kind of confused if wether those numbers are high or jus expected.. i apologize but "pretty impressive" isn’t enough to convince me..

  15. Kristian Lundquist on April 15, 2020 at 5:53 pm

  17. Eratrion on April 15, 2020 at 5:53 pm

In which aspect actually does this blow alienware? Let me answer for you. Prize. That’s actually the one and only. In every other way you would be able to configure Alienware which is far more powerful than this. And let me tell you one more thing. Atleast you are allowed to upgrade a part in it, whenever it’s compatible. Alienware doesn’t sh*t on customers after buying the computer, au contraire with the MSI. And don’t make me compare NBD Dell warranty with MSI carry-in one.

  18. Reed on April 15, 2020 at 5:55 pm

and im sorry, how expensive is that alienware?

  19. jhoee on April 15, 2020 at 5:58 pm

I almost bought an Alienware 18, but I think i can sacrifice the inch screen for all the plugs out the back like it should be.

  20. Andrew Scott on April 15, 2020 at 5:58 pm

For anyone who has this, can you tell me if the screen seems to have a good contrast ratio and viewing angle? I don’t really want to be looking at it a little off center and it’s bright grey in the corners.

  21. Alcatraz1015 on April 15, 2020 at 6:01 pm

lol What I dislike about Alienware (or at least for the new models) is that you can’t just go and update your drivers. Alienware has to release the driver for whatever model you have first then you can download it through Alienware. So, you can actually end up going months with out of date drivers.

just got this laptop. any recommendation on a great cooling pad for it

  23. Ghostfapper on April 15, 2020 at 6:03 pm

Doing SLI or CFX doesn’t add the VRAM up but only give you better performance. Alienware is wayyy too expensive compared to what you get.

  24. Lurker 8675309 on April 15, 2020 at 6:05 pm

You spent way too much time one documentation no one will ever read.

  35. Alfa on April 15, 2020 at 6:16 pm

i have tested the laptop (MSI GT70 GTX870M) with few games like Watch_Dogs, Assassin’s Creed Freedom Cry, Metal Gear Rising, Battlefield 4 and Batman Arkham Origins.
please check my channel for the videos with Frame Rate counter.

  36. Kieth Wheeler on April 15, 2020 at 6:16 pm

I’m looking into buying this but 3000.00 is a lot for a laptop. So before i go out and spend the money does anyone know if this laptop will allow you to run W.O.W. on ultra or is it just like other laptops and will lag like crazy?

  37. dugruos on April 15, 2020 at 6:16 pm

one thing tho, about the benchmarks, can you say if the results are good/bad/amazing/irk-worthy or what.. for those who aren’t inherently familiar with these benchmarks scores.. thanks!

  38. Das John on April 15, 2020 at 6:18 pm

    Especially for the price.

  41. Cody Jacques on April 15, 2020 at 6:19 pm

I want a database which compares all these bench marks!

I do video editing and the graphics card in this looks amazing on paper but i still want that side by side performance benchmarks; with a Macbook Pro Retina per-say…

  42. Marvellousdeath115 on April 15, 2020 at 6:21 pm

I tried it, and tbh I got scared because the fan was going crazy, but omg the laptop just cooled like hell! However, I was testing ARMA 3 and at first I got an average of 40 fps, then I activated the button, and I didn’t notice anything change in the performance, or any framerate increase. But I did notice a framerate drop :l

  47. Adrian on April 15, 2020 at 6:29 pm

i like the asus G75VX laptop

  48. Alcatraz1015 on April 15, 2020 at 6:29 pm

haha Yep. That’s exactly what that button is. I’ve read some people complaining that when you engage that button and turn the fan to maximum power that it’s too loud, and I’ve read others saying that it’s not loud. I’m not picky when it comes to sound. My computer’s GPU (GTX 275) runs at about 60+ dbm when powered on high, and it really isn’t that loud to me. I only notice it if I focus on it. And when I use my surround sound headset I can’t hear it at all.

  49. Walsh2571 on April 15, 2020 at 6:30 pm

Can the keyboard light up as any colour?

  50. Alcatraz1015 on April 15, 2020 at 6:32 pm

It definitely can’t hurt. I mean, the cooler your system runs, the better your performance will be. Also, cooling pads for laptops are okay options. Just don’t expect a huge drop in temperature by using them or anything.
