    Why does the N side become positively charged near the depletion boundary when the N side is full of free electrons. I would think it remains negatively charged.

    I imagine vertical layers of panels similar to floor levels of a building. Sunlight is then reflected from a wall-sized mirror/ aluminum foiled wall that stands in front of the panels top to bottom so that sunlight is reflected between the panels /*;,.

    Several typos: P end is positively charged and N end is negative. Also, the electric field direction should be opposite.
