Great Sega 16-Bit Licensed Games

Licensed games have often been a scourge on the hobby of gaming, but not these guys here. I’ve picked a few licensed games that were on Sega’s 16-bit systems that I really enjoyed.

We will be looking at:
Batman The Video Game – Genesis
Dick Tracy – Genesis
Robocop vs. Terminator – Genesis
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles The Hyperstone Heist – Genesis
The Terminator – Sega CD
Batman Returns – Sega CD

Is there a genesis only RETRON, when my sister’s where kids they had a Sega genesis, I played it when I was a kid, but they lost it when there mother moved. They now have kids and I wanted to get a genesis for him he’s going to be three ( you need to start em young), but it’s not AV compatible any suggestions

RoboCop vs The Terminator for me is one of the best games from that era, I love it. Glad to see it make other people’s lists too.

The Judge Dredd game was really good, not even the endless Youtube retro reviewers mention it. Stargate and Jurassic Park Rampage Edition were also personal favourites.

In high school I sold it to a friend to buy Saturn 😢 I loved my sega cd way more then Saturn . Never got in to import maybe that’s why

  9. McStarkiller666 on December 16, 2020 at 10:23 pm

    The WWF wrestling games

  10. Mike F on December 16, 2020 at 10:24 pm

I love the color palette used in the Sunsoft Batman game. Given this example, how could the makers of the Batman Returns (platformer) game get it so wrong?

  11. ngiants22 on December 16, 2020 at 10:24 pm

See…that last Batman game makes me think that Sega could’ve made a great port of Power Drift for the Sega cd because of the sprite scaling capability. Too bad they didn’t as far as I know…😔

  12. Rainbow Dash on December 16, 2020 at 10:26 pm

    Batman looks like 8bit

  13. Tashiro Sato on December 16, 2020 at 10:27 pm

    I loved the first batman

  16. Darren Mileto on December 16, 2020 at 10:28 pm

Why wasn’t Robocop vs Terminator ever made into a movie? I’d watch that.

  17. Kendon L. Taylor on December 16, 2020 at 10:30 pm

@Sega Lord X I played Robocop versus Terminator on SNES. That version didn’t have blood.

  18. Kalifornia Jani on December 16, 2020 at 10:30 pm

    No ghostbusters?

  19. MetallicaFan1442 on December 16, 2020 at 10:34 pm

Oh I loved Robocop VS Terminator on the megadrive

  20. Yellowblanka on December 16, 2020 at 10:34 pm

I always found it funny how seemingly every Robocop game made him very quick and agile while in the movies, he’s anything but, lol.

  21. Pedro Soares on December 16, 2020 at 10:34 pm

I also prefer TMNT Hyperstone Heist than Turtles in Time. But there was sonething wrong with your footage, it was too slow.

  22. Joe Mac on December 16, 2020 at 10:35 pm

    Love that sassy batman walk

  23. Andrew Lazin on December 16, 2020 at 10:35 pm

TMNT: Hyperstone Heist = so good!

  24. Leigh Dappa on December 16, 2020 at 10:36 pm

❗Not trolling but I liked ‘Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie’ on Mega Drive as it played liked Streets Of Rage.

It was much better than the SNES version.

  25. pappagetti 2009 on December 16, 2020 at 10:42 pm

SLX, there’s something special about what you’re doing. Respect.

  26. Baz Daniels on December 16, 2020 at 10:42 pm

wait a minute, I know what’s going on in that fmv sequence — That’s Kyle Reese arriving from the future.

STILL PEOPLE AND SEGA FANS ARE LIVE 16 BIT SEGA MEGA FANS ARE CRAZY ABOUT THIS

  28. DYKO designs on December 16, 2020 at 10:46 pm

Robocop VS The Terminator is easily the best Robocop game ever made on any system. This is how a Robocop game should be. There is also a Sega Mastersystem which is quite good for the system. Batman also has to be one of my favorites.

  29. Сергей Ломов on December 16, 2020 at 10:47 pm

    X-Men 2: The Clone War
and Robocop 3 be too difficult for me then i was a kid.

  30. M Scott Johnson on December 16, 2020 at 10:47 pm

I recently spent a bit of time with the 2-player beat-em-up Spider-Man and Venom: Separation Anxiety. Maybe it’s identical to the SNES version, which is why it’s not in this video. Both Spider-Man and Venom games were fun in my opinion, but the 2 player of the 2nd one pushes it ahead in my opinion.

  31. Trey on December 16, 2020 at 10:47 pm

What a great collection of games that made me make my transition to the SEGA CD/32X/Saturn, and of course Dreamcast. Never was disappointed.

  32. Ricardo Mauricio Araya on December 16, 2020 at 10:48 pm

Second youtuber that likes the Hyper Stone Heist more than Turtles in Time… I do too, Turtle in Time as great as it is, bores me a bit.

  33. E Blizzard on December 16, 2020 at 10:50 pm

Wow, someone else givin’ Dick Tracy some props. I owned it when I was a kid and LOVED it, just one of those old games that’s so simple but such a blast to play. The soundtrack always stuck with me as well. I actually liked the game better than the movie. As a young adult in my mid 20s I started collecting for the Genesis again and Dick Tracy was one of the very first games I bought again. It’s still as good as I remember from my childhood.

  34. Mr. Vidja Gamez on December 16, 2020 at 10:52 pm

I only played the SNES version, but Phantom 2049 is a great exploration-based platformer.

  35. David Gill on December 16, 2020 at 10:53 pm

The great Tommy Tallarico did the soundtrack for Terminator Sega CD. I agree it is one of the best.

  36. Ty Tye on December 16, 2020 at 10:53 pm

Robocop Vs Terminator isn’t highly regarded? This game is great and the soundtrack is amazing. I still listen to it on VGM rips

  37. Luke Gregory on December 16, 2020 at 10:56 pm

Genuinely shocked people don’t rate RoboCop Vs terminator, it’s a fantastic game! 👍

  38. P Ferreira on December 16, 2020 at 10:56 pm

Some good choices here although Batman Returns really wasn’t that great at all. Batman Forever for all its flaws was better than Returns, driving levels don’t make it a superior game.

  39. Toxic Manbaby on December 16, 2020 at 10:58 pm

Bro ur intro love it seeeegaaaaaa it reminds me of phantasy star

  40. castlevania82 on December 16, 2020 at 10:59 pm

Soon you will have 10k 💝

  41. Luiz Ramos on December 16, 2020 at 10:59 pm

i’m assuming that Teenage Mutant HERO Turtles is the Japanese or Europe title, right?

  42. Bill Cook on December 16, 2020 at 11:00 pm

Great video, but where the helm is X-men 2?

  43. José Pestana on December 16, 2020 at 11:01 pm

I have a few of these on my collection. I had great taste in games even back then! 😛
But I find it funny that you think Robocop Vs. Terminator is an underrated game, ‘cos I never had that impression before. All videos I can remember praise the game as much as you did, it’s the SNES version the one that people usually hate on.

  44. Bloody Kenshiro on December 16, 2020 at 11:04 pm

Robocop Vs. Terminator on the MD was definitely the best version. The SNES one doesn’t have the frantic action a game like this needs to succeed. Too bad the SNES version of Turtles completely blows away the MD one though.

  45. DoggoneNexus on December 16, 2020 at 11:04 pm

  46. One Two on December 16, 2020 at 11:04 pm

Just beat the hyperstone heist the other day. Great game. It came with a hefty price tag of just a little over $50 but I guess if you want it that bad right? 🤔 😂

  47. augustus plebeian on December 16, 2020 at 11:05 pm

Man you have great eye for quality. I love all these games. Great job!
