    Would thermal electric generator tech (TEG) be applicable if the heat generated behind and around the large surface areas in solar farms?
    Seems logical. 1st principles says it should be done.
    Might be fractional amounts on one TEG, but I know the nerds and techies will solve it when designing the CHEAP device, so it can be deployed by the millions in the solar farms.

    Solar Junk
    Time kills solar roofs. Solar roof cells in 2009 2.8% efficiency today we have 25.2% in 2020 and in a lab this year 40.1%
    Now
    You see even if that $80,000 solar home roof is still functional it would be junk in 3-4 years and not even worth plugging in. It will get that bad. In 20-30 years you go from 1% to 80% and then you realize that no matter what the cost it is time to remove that old $80,000 solar roof.

    I would expect the "shadow" to be just another variation on the thermocouple effect. The high EMF however (1.5V) seems rather Sci-Fi.

    ALONG WITH OTHER IDEAS I HAD ON THIS ISSUE. IMAGINE USING NIGHT VISION TECHNOLOGY TO REPLACE THAT GLASS AND USE LIGHT PLASTIC INSTEAD WITH NIGHT VISION INCORPORATED INTO IT.     I dont think "Shadow Solar" will become a thing, too little power harvested.

    It may be worth your while looking up a company in Spain called ABORA (abora-solar.com) producing 89% efficient panels which is a mix of thermal and PV tech. The thermal is used as it would normally and cools the PV part to increase its efficiency so it’s not 89% PV efficiency, but the combined. Interesting non the less.

    If you are harvesting power from the difference between light and shadow – Why not just combine that with regular solar panels and put the "shadow" part of the device on the back side of the panels encapsulated in black.

    Thanks Matt as always but I would love to know where graphene nano tube technology for solar has ended up. Something I came across some years ago and I know manufacturing is a huge hurdle but I thought lab research was at least continuing as it seems to show incredible efficiency potential.

    1) By reflecting away 30% of ISR the albedo, which would not exist w/o the atmosphere, makes the earth cooler than it would be without the atmosphere like that reflective panel set on the dash. Remove the atmosphere/GHGs and the earth becomes much like the moon, a barren rock with a 0.1 albedo, 20% more kJ/h, hot^3 on the lit side, cold^3 on the dark. Nikolov, Kramm (U of AK) and UCLA Diviner mission all tacitly agree.

    2) the GHG up/down welling, “trapping”/”back” radiating/delaying/intercepting, 100 % efficient, perpetual warming loop requires "extra" energy which according to RGHE theory it gets from

    3) the terrestrial surface radiating that "extra" energy as a near ideal .95 emissivity black body which

    4) it cannot do because of the non-radiative heat transfer processes of the contiguous atmospheric molecules.

    1+2+3+4 = 0 Greenhouse Effect + 0 Greenhouse gas warming + 0 man caused climate change.

    I’m waiting until the efficiency is at 30% or higher. There are wind options available but some local governments won’t allow us to use them. That’s just a pile of crap

    We had solar panels installed on our roof in Perth (Western Australia) in circa 1981. I am sure with multi layer applications we will hit commercially available close to 50% efficiency panels in 20 years or so.

    What about indium gallium nitride solar cells? They were touted as effectively a full spectrum solar cell when announced by Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.     How to derive energy from its absence:
    1. Abolish thermodynamics.

    Done. Now you can get energy from shadows.

    The energy comes from the light, the shadow acts as an energy sink. I’m surprised to see such a naive treatment on your channel. James Watt improved the efficiency of the steam engine by cooling the exhaust, but no scientist has suggested that that extracts energy from coldness. Likewise, you can’t get solar energy from darkness. Accept that or rewrite physics, twit.

    I’m a Texas sub contractor and have noticed that major corp comes in and rapes our states market and leaves people high in debt, sometimes with their homes being seize due to liens . The upsale is crazy. I’ve been working for a long time to meet the people who are actually out doing the work and hustling. We finally got a team.     no need to mock this problem. some people are very greedy. The energy efficiency of wheat is 0.1 percent. The energy efficiency of a solar panel with an electrolyser is 10 percent. This is 100 times more.
