Electronics Schematic Tutorial Walkthrough

***if you get stuck trying to find that first component, add a “linear” library from the library manager by going to: Library tab – Library Manager – Available – find “linear” – then click “Use”***

In this video, we’ll walk you through the steps related to the documentation tutorials, found here:

Make sure to see part 2 for the PCB layout!

how do you sync schematic to PCB after change?

  2. Carlos Ricco on April 9, 2021 at 10:51 pm

By following this tutorial I couldn’t open "linear", even try to search for "555". anything wrong?

  3. Ron Owensby on April 9, 2021 at 10:51 pm

I see I am not the only one who had trouble accessing the electronics design, If you can’t find it look under the file (with save, save as etc). Now if I can figure out libraries, and how to find components (among other things).

What is the thought behind this? How does it compare to Eagle? Is it simpler? -just an alternative -is Eagle to be discontinued?

  5. Geoff Tayler on April 9, 2021 at 10:59 pm

Great new feature, and thanks for a great introductory video. I’ve been playing with the electronics design feature for a couple of weeks now, and since I’ve never experienced Eagle, I’m really impressed. However I’m getting frustrated with the message "The free version of Fusion 360 cannot perform the requested action", which seems to pop up all too frequently. It would be helpful if there was some comprehensive documentation on what the license restrictions are, since usually this message pops up without any explanation. So far I’ve found through trial and error that board size is limited to approx 80cm2, and that hierarchical design is essentially disabled , since you are limited to one module in a schematic.

thanks for the effort, I can’t add label or name, it keep beep at me

  7. Belen Hedderich on April 9, 2021 at 11:07 pm

Now eagle is integrated at fusion?

I would like to create my own components? Specifically, I want to design components to design aircraft schematics using Garmin avionics equipment diagrams. Can you create a tutorial on how to accomplish creating your own components?

  10. Jon Byler on April 9, 2021 at 11:11 pm

I’m having trouble navigating the library. very non-intuitive, search function does not seem to work for me. Where are you selecting these particular capacitors? The ones that I found, it would not allow me to change values for them or assign values. I guess I need to look for a tutorial about how to add your own components?

  11. Jon Byler on April 9, 2021 at 11:18 pm

Excited by the possibilities that this brings, I hope the learning curve is not too steep. I never did figure out how to use eagle… I’ve had a few other circuit simulators/schematic drawing tools that have been much easier to use, but they don’t offer the ability to make a PCB directly as this does. Hopefully as this is rolled out and developed further, it gets easier to navigate and use.

You sound like a handsome Dracula… Great Video. I can’t wait to try it.

What?! Are you crazy! My goodness! PCB development in Fusion! Mind blowing. If you do this feature as good as you did modeling, this will be pure gold! Thank you.

  15. Aksrockets on April 9, 2021 at 11:23 pm

I’d be great if you made a video for Eagle users switching over to Fusion and what changes they should pay attention to.

Same here, no "electronic design" menu item.

  18. Americo Rosales on April 9, 2021 at 11:34 pm

thanks I like you tutorial , I will follow you

  19. Hari Wiguna on April 9, 2021 at 11:34 pm

Thank you for these electronic design tutorials! Question: When I clicked the ERC after completing my schematic, I have an extra warning that you did not get in the video: "Board and schematic are not consistent! No forward-/backannotation will be performed! Use the ERC command to get a detailed error report" What did I do wrong?

  20. stefan CHO on April 9, 2021 at 11:34 pm

is this not active in educational version? I can’t see this

  21. Dylan Rice on April 9, 2021 at 11:36 pm

Solid video overall. Gotta say I personally would find it incredibly helpful to ALL the libraries needed listed at the beginning of the video. I had to figure out on my own to add the linear, rcl and led libraries, which as a first time user of ECAD wasn’t super easy. All mentioning the names of components would help if you’re going to go as fast as you are I had to pause many times to look at the name.

  22. neosarchizo on April 9, 2021 at 11:37 pm

Can I use all eagle functions? And how can I add custom library?

  23. John Car on April 9, 2021 at 11:39 pm

I am interested in creating Schematics for Aircraft Avionics. Can you create a tutorial on how to create library components from drawings provided by the manufacture? Here is a link to the installation manual. https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?partNumber=010-01056-00&tab=manuals

  24. Nputaansuu on April 9, 2021 at 11:41 pm

I have Fusion 360 up and tried to follow along. I don’t have the new electronics design on my client. Perhaps it will come soon. I will be working with this right away. Thanks for moving in this direction.

  25. Ken Blanch on April 9, 2021 at 11:45 pm

So I opened library manager to add the linear library. Then I found the timer clicked OK the i get this error message "No valid assets been selected. Footprint required. What next??

  26. Auarhau on April 9, 2021 at 11:45 pm

I cant find the first part. The timer search shows 0 results.

  27. Alex Kistner on April 9, 2021 at 11:46 pm

Great next step. Looking forward for the future of eagle / fusion 360. Just tried it today. Really appreciate the integration!
